We're Milkman Digital, a media production house in The Hague. We make the kind of work brands are actually remembered for: commercials, branded content, social-first video, the films that build a brand instead of just decorating it. Some of it is glossy and scripted, some of it is fast and real. We work for DTC and B2B brands, and more and more we run their media all year round instead of one campaign at a time. Which means we shoot a lot, and we shoot a real range.
We've got our own studio with a cyclorama, an edit suite down the hall, and a small, tight team that genuinely likes the work and each other. What we don't have enough of yet is camera people we trust completely. That's where you come in.
The role. We're building a small pool of freelance camera operators we call when the work is good, and keep coming back to. On any given project you might be lighting and shooting a commercial with one of our directors, grabbing run-and-gun branded content on location, or running a clean product shoot in the studio. Some days are planned to the minute and you execute a board; some days you walk in with a loose brief and we find the shot together. The one thing that never changes is the question behind every setup: does this carry the story, or just look nice?
We care about the craft, but we also care about the day going well, someone who's calm when the schedule slips, easy to have on set, and as invested in the result as we are.
What we need:
- Around 5 years behind a camera, with a reel that shows range
- A genuine eye for composition and light (technique we can teach, this we can't)
- Confident solo and on a crew, calm under deadline
- DaVinci Resolve and Blackmagic experience are a plus, not a dealbreaker
- In or around The Hague and able to be on set; no driving licence needed
What we offer. A fair rate for your experience, a varied roster of clients and project types so it never gets dull, our gear (or bring your own), and a team that's good to be around. Because we run media for brands continuously, the work stays steady for the people we click with, and there's real room to grow into bigger productions with us.
How to apply. Here's the part we care about most: instead of a cover letter, send us a short video of yourself. Tell us who you are and why you'd fit at Milkman. For a camera role it says everything at once, how much you want it, how you shoot, and how you handle a brief like this. Add your reel and send it to jobs@milkman.digital with "Freelance Camera Operator" in the subject.
